This timeline of the 17-day occupation of the Wisconsin State Capitol in February and March of 2011 is particularly focused on the internal organization of those living in what became referred to as “Capitol City.” The occupation of the Capitol began as a public outpouring of opposition to Governor Scott Walker’s proposed “Budget Repair Bill,” but as the protests evolved, so did the motivations and goals of those sleeping inside the Capitol.

This is a work in progress, and will be updated and added to over time. If you think there is an event or moment that needs to be added please make suggestions in the comments.

Thank you to the many people and organizations that helped to document these events and whose work I have used to create this timeline.
